How To Apply Custom Leather Coating dye

STEP 1

First you want to clean the panel with our Leather Prep which is a solution that removes dirt, oils and any leather-care products you've previously used. Next, you clean the panel off with a scrub pad. Then you will wipe the excess off with a microfiber cloth.

STEP 2

Now that the leather is prepped you can start with mixing the dye with the recommended amount of Binder. Apply it in thin coats with either the sponge or a spray gun. It's really important that you apply the dye in thin coats for maximum adhesion. You want the layers of dye to completely dry before applying your next coat so that each coat can adhere to the seat for maximum durability.

PRO TIPS

PRO TIP 1: Don't overheat a spot or touch the leather with the dryer. You risk cracking your coating and damaging your leather. PRO TIP 2: If you have small air bubbles when applying the coat with a sponge just use a hair dryer to get rid of the air bubbles. PRO TIP 3: A hair dryer can be used to speed up the process.

STEP 3

Apply your Top Coat the same as you did with the Dye by mixing it with the recommended amount of binder. You only need 2-3 light coats to achieve a good protection barrier for your newly colored Leather.
